Now that our new website is up, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Madonna Cloak Project, a new initiative from Christopherus aimed at supporting stay-at-home mothers and challenging the creeping assumptions that care of children by their mothers (or fathers or similar loving adults committed to that particular child) is in any way replaceable by child care providers. This assumption has made in-roads into Waldorf early years education, not just mainstream education, and one aspect of our work will be to challenge this assumption and try to discover anew what the true needs of modern-day children are.
We also hope eventually to create support groups where mothers can meet other mothers and receive support to parent their children and ensoul their homes in the best way possible. We extend our support to those mothers who cannot stay at home with their children as well and we also recognize the need for good home-based childcare - but childcare firmly based on the belief that it is supplementary to parenting.
